Let me tell you, he doesn’t talk he performs. He opened the show with the title track for the show and number one hit, We Don’t Talk. Puth commandeered the stage with the confidence of a musician who truly knows his craft.

The next time the lights went down, girls on all sides of me let out deafening screams as the band walked on. She wrapped up the set with a mash up of 21 Pilots greatest hits, and left the crowd in anticipation of the star of the evening.

Recently, Knox has had a few songs premier on the radio and fans were elated when they realized who she was. Unaccompanied by a band, she recorded and looped her entire track live in front of the audience proving her a self sufficient musician on the verge of success. Her quirky lyrics and girl-next-door style took a backseat to her raw talent as a musician. Anticipation rose as we filed into the House of Blues and fans awaited for Puth, fans of all ages and walks of life crowded onto the floor chatting with strangers who shared a love for Puth, who they endearingly referred to as a leprechaun.įans went wild as the lights went down and opener Haleigh Knox took the stage. What Charlie described as a “half homecoming” was well received as fans lined up all the way across the David Ortiz bridge, hours before doors opened to get the best spot in the house. On the train ride from campus to the House of Blues, I could count on one hand the number Charlie Puth songs I knew, but never being one to turn down a ticket I found myself waiting in line on a Wednesday night in the middle of October. Shattering the moment but we held onto the feeling that our lives were better for what we had just experienced. Leaving the arena filled with a buzz that didn’t just come from the bass beating through my body for the last three hours, we burst out into the world. Music is not just entertainment, it’s air. You’d be a fool if you chose not to take in every single second of it. It’s the same performance but it means something different to each and every person who had the undoubted pleasure of experiencing it. The moment can never be recreated, it will be the only time each and every single one of the thousand people will be together under the one roof, unified for a common cause: good music. Live music has a way of intertwining the paths of souls that would never otherwise have shared an experience that resonates with them to their core. Music has a way of intertwining the souls of people who have never met and will never meet. You don’t have to be alone.” In that moment I didn’t feel along. There was nothing quite like putting my arms around my best friend and sharing a moment with thousands of people all singing in unison “and I can tell just what you wan’t, you don’t want to be along. While the majority of the crowd was made up of college students who grew up with the band, fans of all ages came out to support the including a few 10 year olds (with their parents in tow) all the way up to a couple that must have been at least 50 years old, put all us college kids to shame with their classic dance moves.Īfter playing an hour and a half set the crowd couldn’t get enough, encoring the band to come back out for a three song encore. Unique graphic displays and light shows, individualized to the beat of each song, new and old, shocked and awed the crowd with what is undoubtedly one of the best light displays I have ever witnessed.Ī healthy mix of new hits off of their Gameshow album were tossed like a salad with classic favorites from their Tourist History album being the croutons on top, to keep all of their fans, new and old, whole heartedly engaged. From there the crowd became on massive body moving in unison to the beat of whichever hit song came next.

All three bands, frequent visitors of the Alt 18 countdown, TDCC’s “Bad Decisions” off their Gameshow Album reaching 14 in early october, and “Gameshow” itself reaching number one on Advanced Placement September 29th.Įar splitting screams filled the air as the beloved band took the stage. Making their second stop on their North American Tour the show was opened by incredible up and coming artist, Magic Man best known for their song “Paris” (weather it’s about the city or a girl is yet to be decided), and Broods with their SXM Alt Nation chart topper “Bridges” off their 2014 album Evergreen. With classic hits like “This is the Life”, “What You Know”, and “Something Good can Work” off their album Tourist History, the group released their new album Gameshow earlier this year. Never in my wildest, angst ridden, teenage dreams did I imagine that I, as a newly minted twenty-something, would be standing amongst hundreds of people packed into the Agganis Arena in anticipation of one of the greatest bands of our generation, Two Door Cinema Club.
